For over 50 years, the Eureka Rhododendron Parade has been a Spring tradition, where hundreds of spectators line the streets of to watch the annual Parade.

While the 55thAnnual Parade was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Virus, plans are being made to again hold the annual Parade in 2021 (of course depending on the ability to offer it safely) as the Parade is a time of joy & celebration!

Old Town Rotary is proud to be the primary Parade Coordinator working with many supporting agencies including the City of Eureka and the Eureka Chamber of Commerce.

2021-22 Rhododendron Artist- Lavonne Cookman

A lifelong native of Northern California, Lavonne Cookman is an artist who is fascinated with the magic of watercolor. She loves the unique ability water has to make paint dance on the paper and finds it thrilling to use this energy to push and pull the colors together. Lavonne believes this vibrant movement makes watercolor one of the most exciting forms of art. She prefers to paint subjects with eyes and believes they are the soul to the painting. Keeping the eyes as realistic as possible, she then makes the rest of the painting playful and splashy. It becomes a lively duet of realism and impressionism. Lavonne likes paintings that make her laugh, and she often surprises with unexpected colors.
